How to Use Aria on Apple Watch: Tasks, Voice, Routines and Complications

Last checked · Aria 1.1.4 · Written by LIPSON

Key answer The Aria watch app works with the Aria app on your paired iPhone, so there is no separate sign-in. Tap the circle to finish today's tasks, say a sentence and the iPhone turns it into tasks, follow routines step by step, or put what is left today on your watch face.

How do I install the Aria watch app?

  1. Update Aria on your iPhone Update Aria in the App Store to a version that includes the watch app.
  2. Install it on the watch On your iPhone open the Apple Watch app, go to My Watch, scroll down to Available Apps and tap Install next to Aria. If automatic app install is on, it installs by itself.
  3. Open it on the watch Open Aria on the watch and it shows the records from Aria on the paired iPhone. You do not sign in separately on the watch.

The watch app moves together with Aria on your iPhone. Aria must be on the paired iPhone, and your task and event records follow the iPhone.

How do I finish today's tasks on the watch?

Open Aria on the watch and tap the circle next to a task on the Today screen. You do not need to take out your iPhone, and the task is checked off on the iPhone list too.

How do I add a task by speaking to the watch?

Tap Speak to Aria and say a sentence such as “confirm the dentist appointment tomorrow at 3 p.m.” Aria on the iPhone splits it into tasks and events, and the watch shows a short reply and what was added. Speaking on the iPhone works the same way; see How to add tasks and events by voice.

How do routines and the focus timer work?

A routine with steps, like a morning routine, can be followed one step at a time on the watch. When you want to focus on a single task, start the focus timer. How to build routines and streaks is in the routine and habit app guide.

What happens when I record on the watch?

A voice memo you leave on the watch is transcribed and organized by Aria on your iPhone, and AI is used to tidy the transcript. When you record a meeting or class, get consent from the people there before recording, and check your school or company rules first. Recording on the iPhone is covered in meeting and lecture recording summaries.

FAQ

Can I use it on the watch without an iPhone?

The Aria watch app is a companion to Aria on your paired iPhone. Things the iPhone handles, such as speaking to Aria and recording, need the watch to be connected to the iPhone.

Do I need to sign in on the watch separately?

No. The watch uses the records of Aria on your paired iPhone, so there is no separate sign-in.

Aria does not appear in the complications list. What now?

In the Apple Watch app on your iPhone, My Watch, check that Aria is installed, open Aria on the watch once, then look again. Available complication slots can differ by watch face.
